About the Survey

The 草榴社区Sexual Health Services Survey (formerly the Pap Test and STI Survey) provides colleges and universities with benchmarking data about sexual and reproductive health services including the provision of gynecological services, Pap test collection and evaluation, and STI/HIV testing and treatment.

Over the years, the survey has served as an important benchmarking tool regarding management strategies and data collection, as well as a means to assess educational efforts and compare health center services. The survey is also attracting wider attention from experts in the field who have an interest in determining the burden of STIs/HIV in college populations.

The 草榴社区Board of Directors adopted a recommendation of the 草榴社区Research and Data Strategy Task Force to make a number of changes to this survey to reduce survey fatigue among members.

  • The traditional Sexual Health Services Survey will be split into two parts:
    • The STI, pregnancy, and Pap testing surveillance will be collected every three years as a clinical benchmarking module. Data collection is underway over Summer 2026. More information about how to participate is here.聽 The deadline for entering data from the 2024-2025 Academic Year is July 17, 2026. A final report will be issued to the membership and posted here after Labor Day 2026.
    • The remaining questions about service delivery, policies, and programs will be incorporated into the Institutional Profile Survey. These questions will be collected in Fall 2026 with the rest of the IPS data from the 2025-2026 academic year. These questions will be part of a rotating portion of the IPS and are expected to repeat about every 3 years.
  • The recall period for both parts of the survey has changed from calendar year to academic year so that it can be better integrated with other data collected by ACHA.

 

To Participate

Sexual health surveillance portion: (STI and pregnancy test positivity and abnormal Pap test rates) Data collection is underway until July 17, 2026. More info is available here.

Sexual health services, policies, and programs portion: Institutional Members will be invited to complete the Institutional Profile Survey in Fall 2026. The representative of each institution will receive a survey link and instructions after Labor Day 2026 and will have until Dec 31 to respond.

Over the years, the 草榴社区Pap and STI Test Survey (now known as the Sexual Health Services Survey) has served as an important benchmarking tool and as a means to assess education outreach efforts.
